Our history
Our company was set up at the beginning of the 20th century in the village of San Benedetto del Tronto on the Adriatic coast.
It was a little family-run factory managed by Giuseppe Merlini and supplying local fishermen.
During the 1950s this small business based on manual production became an industrial activity thanks to Giovanni Merlini, a qualified engineer, who mechanized the whole process. In the 1970s the Merlini family diversified the range of its products and started to supply not only the fishing market but also the lifting equipment market. In 1986 the third generation of the Merlini family founded REMER Srl, a company producing steel wire ropes for many purposes in a range of diameters from 3mm up to 3 inches.
Products
REMER Srl is characterised by tradition and innovation. It is a dynamic company that has been on the market since the beginning of the 20th century, producing steel wire ropes directly in our plants, completing all stages of the production process from drawing of the steel wires (of European origin) to stranding and closing the rope, and if necessary the application of accessories. According to our customers’ needs, the strands can be compacted and the rope can be plastified inside (between the inner core and outer strands) or outside, and it can be painted.
In order to guarantee the respect of quality standards, in our technical office we test the wires and ropes chemically, physically and through destructive tests. Moreover, the manufacturing process is computerised in order to ensure the traceability of our ropes from wires to the final product.
Our range of steel wire ropes is very wide, thanks to our production database which we have developed over nearly a century and also a significant amount of machinery and manufacturing equipment.
REMER Srl produces ungalvanized, galvanized (Class A/AB/B), zinc/aluminium and stainless steel ropes, with tensile strength from 1370 N/mm2 up to 2350 N/mm2, from 3mm to 3 inches diameter (76.20mm).
At the request of our customers, our ropes are inspected directly in our plants by third party certification bodies, such as RINA, Lloyd’s Register and DNV-GL, in order to ensure the quality of our products and to confirm the real breaking load of the ropes.
Furthermore, over the years our company system has been certified by:
- Quality Certificate ISO 9001:2015, IQ Net Reg. N.IT5609 and RINA Reg. Nr 1360/98/S;
- Lloyd’s Register Certificate Nr. MD00/4071/0003/11;
- American Petroleum Institute Certificate of Authority to use the Official API Monogram Licence Number 9A-0076.
